2005-07-05 - 8:35 a.m. How I got my American Gigolo Theatre Poster Another Bad Citigrrrl entry. Original Theatre Advertising cards are tricky to collect...these are the posters you see under glass in your theatre lobby - when a movie ends, they are sent back to the film promo company. But back 20 years ago I heard you could plead with the theatre manager and maybe convince him to turn over the theatre card to you...so, one day I brazenly marched myself down to the theatre on 86th Street and asked to speak to the manager, and told him I really, really wanted the American Gigolo poster in the lobby. He wanted to know if I ever considered becoming a model, and showed me a portfolio of photos of women he was compiling for some supposed modeling project. He asked what I had worth showing to get the poster, and, I remember I was wearing this short white rabbit-fur jacket I'd designed, and I don't remember what I wore underneath, but I stripped for him and flashed my breasts, and got my poster and trotted home. For the last 20 years this fantastic theatre card has been hanging in my living room, and every time I look at it, I think...oh, god, that's how I got it...
