Patience

I am the Queen of Patience. I still have dial-up, and I do not want to change my email address, and I do not care if I must click here and there to get connected, and I've had no problem with my local ISP for many years. Faster=better?...eh!

Still, the boiler has not been cleaned. A supervisor from Castle Oil came by and did an evaluation of the boiler, and wrote up what needs to be done for the boiler to be kept up to code, and is submitting it to the Dead Slumlord's family. He did get quite incensed that there was no ventilation in the boiler room, and insisted that a window that the Dead Slumlord had sealed up be smashed out. This is a good thing, since for the first time last night my CO alarm did not wail and wake me up during the night, and I did not throw up in the morning or have headaches and nausea during the day. Now it remains to be seen if the Dead Slumlord's sons decide to put the money into cleaning the boiler AFTER LIKE THREE YEARS of...N-O-T!! They actually told us to get broomsticks from the garbage off the street and put wads of duct tape on the ends and poke the boiler, then fire it up and see if whatever's left burns off...this is why there are stories like this one this week, of a landlord with 3,700 violations in his 27 owned properties on Jerome Avenue in the Bronx - ceilings fallen, floors caved in, vermin etc...the city has too few inspectors, and too much corruption. The Castle Oil guy told us there's no way the Fire Dept. could have let the building go all these years with a passing inspection cert unless they were paid off in some way. You know all those giant waterbugs that come up into my apartment? The boiler man was curious as to what was in back of the boiler, and asked to have a flashlight fired up on the wall to see, and saw this huge one-foot circular nest of two-three inch waterbug creatures there that made the big beefy boiler man recoil and scream.

I am really beat, having been dealing with company auditors all week - too much stress, plus little sleep with the carbon monoxide problem. I will catch up with sleep tonight.

I've made handmade cards for my two aunts that I haven't been in touch with lately, and enclosed clippings, as my mom used to do, so I hope they feel good about this. I have to be a better person in this way, I know. Life goes by.
