2006-02-07 - 10:00 p.m. Nude Woman in The Window Coming home from work, as I walked from the garage tonight, I glanced up at the apartment building across the street, as I usually do, a comforting feeling, noticing all the lit windows of my neighbor's lives. But this one startled me to no end...a full-body image of a woman before a mirror, applying makeup, backlit by a bright light just barely diffused by some plastic film applied on the window. I had to stop and stare. Then as I thought, maybe it's only me, as I put the key into my door, I saw a man stop short in front of my building and watch, and watch, then go to walk away, then return to watch again. I thought, Oh, No-o-o-o! I wrote a note, "FYI, third floor up, window to the left of the main door: frosted window treatment, *NOT* a good idea! Can see you clearly! Just a friendly warning from a (female icon) neighbor across the street!" I left the message facing into the glass vestibule of the building. Maybe she was getting ready, after a shower, to go out tonight, and she'll see the note as she leaves...I hope I don't offend her. I just had to, in good conscience, clue her in. I recall about ten years ago, some couple moved into an apartment in that building, and put up one of those rattan/bamboo pull-up shades...also, NOT a good choice...I'd see their silouettes wrestling with each other across the room, but of course, then they'd settle down into a bed, so nothing was visible after that. This is different. All of us who live in the city pretty much ignore what others might notice, as none of us cares much what we see or let be seen in passing. Once in a while I may get a glance of a neighbor in a building beyond my yard closing his window, shirtless...big deal; or I may open the back window minus clothing at 3 AM to let my dog out; the world seems sound asleep, and I see no lights lit. But this nude woman in the window...I just thought, if it was me, I'd want to be told, y'know?
