A macaroni pot, pliers, and a lasagna pan

When doing your laundry involves those three things, it's time to get a new washing machine.

Oh, little black cloud over my head, please go away!

My Sanyo portable washing machine (dated June 1984 on the back panel) finally reached the point where I couldn't fix it myself any longer. I've prided myself that I've replaced belts, seals, and parts all these 22 years, but the main pump failed this week. That's where the bailing out the water with the macaroni pot came in. Also I had to pry open the lint trap with my pliers, and then empty out the remainder of the water with the lasagna pan, like with twelve dumpings of soapy water into the sink, and a nice flood on the floor.

But it's all good. Online I found a portable washer for $199 at Target. Then I called the NYC 311 number and got all the info on disposing of the old washing machine and also my old dead refrigerator that's been taking up space in my apartment for maybe 10 years. These two large metal objects go to the curb Thursday night. This week I also threw out a dead VCR and a shelving unit I would never ever ever bother repairing.

We had violent thunderstorms yesterday, and the winds and rain demolished what remained of my little wood round garden table where I loved to sit and read and eat lunch or do crafts. There it sat this morning, all sad, upside down, with it's legs all twisted in the air. It goes to the curb also, and my next project after selling more vintage photos and old greeting cards and postcards on eBay this week, is to order a new little folding lattice-work wood table and chair bistro set for my garden, also from Target, for $99. Quality of life, to quote Peter.

Right now my sister Valerie and I are trying to find out what's going on with our Aunt Nancy. She doesn't answer her phone. Valerie has left messages with Aunt Nancy's daughter, Mary Jane, and I've left messages with her son, Lenny, but we've heard nothing yet, for days. Something is not right.
