2007-02-07 - 10:18 a.m. I have electricity! Last night I came home to a burst pipe in my apartment, alerted the neighbors. We got into the basement and there were several frozen pipes that had burst...a virtual rainforest. We called 911 and half a dozen firefighters came and turned off the water and the boiler. So now there's no heat, no water, but we did find a plumbing company to supposedly show up today. It's like 10 degrees outside, and man oh man my fingers are cold typing this, but hey, there's electricity and I can fire up the gas stove for a bit of warmth, which I'll do in a minute. I went out and got bottled water for the dog and a hot box o' joe and some donuts for the all of us who are waiting in the hallway for the plumbers to arrive. It hopefully will turn out OK.
